SOME COMMON CONCERNS WE'VE HEARD
I’ve tried so many things already—how is this different?
The Portrait Healing Framework isn’t just another self-help workbook. It’s a hands-on, repeatable process that moves beyond quiet contemplation and mental exercises, offering tangible tools and structured guidance to help you witness yourself, process emotions, and experience real self-connection.
What if I don’t have a lot of time to commit?
Just like any relationship, self-connection grows over time. As we get closer, we naturally make time for the people we love, and the same goes for ourselves. The Portrait Healing Framework meets you where you are, offering value whether you engage deeply or use just a few tools as time allows.
Seeing myself sounds scary!
That makes total sense! There was a time I could not look in a mirror without crying, so I completely get it. After doing this work, I realized how much the the standard mirror distorts our perception of ourselves. Over time, this distortion is compounded by external influences like beauty standards and societal expectations, shaping how we see ourselves. The fear we feel is based on this distortion, however self-witnessing offers a clear, authentic view, helping you break free from this distortion.
There have been many studies on how mirrors impact self-perception. Check out this great article by Tara Well, PhD, on Why You Don’t Think Your Photos Look Like You, offering valuable insights to help ease those fears.
My favorite line from her article is "Research on the psychology of mirrors and reflection, finds that many people don’t like their image in the mirror and like their non-reversed image even less!"
It's wild to think that we often prefer the mirror image, yet still feel uncomfortable when we see ourselves, showing just how deeply distorted our self-perception has become.
